The card beside the telephone has four steps: lift the receiver, listen to the greeting, record after the tone, and hang up. There is no app and no code. The next day you receive every recording in a private gallery: the laughter, the heartfelt wishes, the messages from those who travelled far. It is the keepsake a paper guest book could never capture.
